가는 길을 막고 사람들에게 물어보면 인간과 자연과 예술에 대한 답을 얻을 수 있을까?
나는 길가에 있는 돌들을 모아 정성스레 돌을 쌓았다. 단지 나의 눈높이만큼 반듯하게 쌓아올린 단순한 구조의 돌단은 작품 자체의 시각적 개념적 의미를 최소화였으므로 그것 자체로 미적 감흥을 유도하지도 않고 어떤 개념적 구조를 가지고 사람들 앞에 다가서는 것도 아니다. 그러나 자연 요소들이 홀로 그 존재 의미를 과시하지 않듯이 돌단은 숲 속의 다른 것들과 동등한 관계를 유지하며 그 곳을 찾아오는 사람들을 맞이하고 그들의 반응을 이끌어낸다.
나의 작품은 주변의 자연 풍경들과 이질적인 관계를 형성하는 것이 아니라 서로를 받아들이는 대등한 상태로 존재한다. 그리고 시간이 지남에 따라 사람들에 의하여 다시 형성되는 길, 돌단위에 떨어지는 나뭇잎과 그림자로 인하여 그 모습을 달리할 것이다.
After blocking up a path with stones is it possible to get an answer about the human being, the nature and art from people if I ask?
I piled stones up with true heart in the middle of the path in a forest.
A simple stone platform piled till to my eye level has minimized visual and conceptual meaning straightly. So it does not have aesthetic pleasure and does not go to people with any conceptual value. On the other hand the stone platform keeps equality with things in the forest, like natural elements don't show the meaning of existence alone, they meet visitors and draw for their response.
My work does not exist distinctively in surrounded natural landscapes. But being as the same state- accepting each other. It will change the state by the time taking a new path which would be made by visitors and leaves and shadow fall down on my work.
