        이 작업은 삼원색과 흰색의 기본색을 가지고 색채를 조절한 흔적이 남아있는 긴 로프를 성벽을 따라 나 있는 산책로 가장자리를 따라 설치한 작품이다. 이번 작업의 중심 개념은 자연과 인간의 예술 행위가 서로의 영역을 직접 침범하지 않으면서 어떻게 같은 공간 속에서 의미있는 관계를 형성 할 수 있는가 하는 것이었다. 일주일 정도 현장에 머물면서 자연의 현장을 가능한 한 그대로 유지하면서도 작업의 컨셉(concept)을 잘 드러낼 수 있는 방법을 모색하는데 주안점을 두어 작업했다.

작 업 과 정

  1. 넓고 녹음 우거진 얕으막한 산으로 이루어진 산성공원 주위를 에워싸고 있는 공산성의 성벽과 나란하게 자연스런 오르막길을 형성하고 있는 산책로 사이의 풀밭을 적절한 설치 장소로 선택했다.

  2. 60m 정도 되는 로프에 설치 장소 주변에서 발견한 참나무와 칡의 잎의 색을 보면서 기본색 (빨, 노, 파, 흰)으로부터 색채 조절과정을 거쳐 잎의 색들과 동일한 색이 되도록 로프 위에 칠한 다음 산책로를 따라 난 작은 소롯길을 따라 설치하였는데, 색채의 조율과정에 따라 각 기본색들과의 간격에 변화가 생긴다. (작품제작 기간 중 비에 의해서 물감이 지워지고 스며들어 부드러운 색조로 변하였다)

  3. 4가지 기본색이 칠해진 각각의 지점 가까이에 있는 풀잎, 묵은 낙엽, 이끼, 돌등을 보면서 색을 혼합해 각각의 자연물들과 동일한 색깔이 되도록 칠해나가 마침내 자연물의 색과 로프위에 칠해진 색이 만나도록 하였다.

        자연물의 색채에 접근하는 과정을 통해 마침내 자연물과 나의 작업물을 동시에 드러내고자 하였는데, 이것은 야외 현장 작업이 가지는 임장성(臨場性)의 생생함과, 자연과 관계하는 작가의 작업물(作業物)의 내적 형식의 만남이 관람자를 통해 이루어지도록 한 것이다. 기존의 성벽과 그 성벽을 따라 형성된 소롯길에 작품을 설치함으로써 현장의 자연스러움을 거스르지 않도록 하고, 작업물에서 보여지는 선명한 색채를 통해 관람객들의 시선을 작품으로 이끌고자 하였다. 색채를 조율하는 조색 과정은 시간 속에서 생성 소멸하는 자연의 속성과 나란한 구조를 가진다고 할 수 있으며, 자연물의 색채에 작업물의 색채가 접근하는 순간 다시 각각의 생성과 소멸 과정으로 돌아가게 되는 사실을 통해, 자연과 인간의 의식이 시간의 흐름 속에서 만나고 헤어지며 다시 하나 되는 관계를 표현하고자 하였다.    2003. 8  전원길

   I set a rope, which has the traces of color controlling using primary colors and white, along the walking path side by side with the Gong Mountain forest wall(Gong San Seong). The main concept of this project is that how I can make significant relationship among the nature, the human being and artwork without direct invasion in the same space. I worked for a week in the field looking for a way to show the concept as much as possible as well as keeping the nature fact.

Working Process

1. I chose a grass field between the castle wall and path in the San Seong Park where big, old trees grew and deep     shadows fell.

2. I tried to make the same colors to oak's leaf and arrowroot's which I found near by the site from primary colors     on a 60m rope, and set it along the road. There is some diversity of distance between primary colors because of     the process of controling colors(The colors have been changed to the natural soft colors by the rain.)

3. In the next stage, I made color controlling traces finally to be same color to the nature things, leaves, moss and     stones which I found beside the rope, through the process. (I mixed and painted colors on the rope directly)

   I wanted to show both 'nature things' and 'made things' through color tuning. This is for the communication with the inner form of artwork and the liveliness of the specific site. The process of color controlling would be the parallel state with the principal of the nature generating and disappearing in the time, and I wanted to express that nature and human's consciousness meet and separate and become one again. 2003. 8 Won-Gil Jeon
